The Justices and Judges of the East African Court of Justice (EACJ) paid a courtesy call on the Chief Justice, Hon. Justice Alfonse Chigamoy Owiny - Dollo at the Judiciary Headquarters in Kampala.
The Chief Justice thanked the Justices for paying him another visit as the Court concludes itssession in Uganda.
"As Judiciary, we consider EACJ as a sister Judiciary," he said.
Adding that the Judiciary is happy to have hosted the EACJ and to have had a session.
The President of EACJ, Hon. Justice Nestor Kayobera, said they decided to visit the Chief Justice to convey their gratitude to the head of the Judiciary for the hospitality and generosity the institution has extended to the regional Court.
"We are here to express our gratitude for the support we have got from you...the courtesy we have got from Commercial Court was more than what expected. The Court provided state of the art ICT facility which supported the court session within and beyond the jurisdiction of Uganda."
Hon. Justice Kayobera requested the Chief Justice to continue supporting the Court.
Court of Appeal's Justice, Hon. Justice Cheborion Barishaki who doubles as a Judge in the EACJ Appellate Division, thanked the President and the Principal Judge of the EACJ for the novel idea of rotating the Court within partner States. This, he said, is in line with idea of bringing Justice closer to the people.
Present were Justices; Hon. Lady Justice Sauda Mjasiri (Vice President EACJ), Hon. Lady Justice Anita Mugeni (Judge EACJ Appellate Division), Justice Kathurima M'Inoti (Justice Appellate Division), Hon. Justice Yohane Masara (Principal Judge EACJ), Hon. Justice Dr. Charles Nyawello (Deputy Principal Judge EACJ), Hon. Justice Charles Nyachae (Judge of the First Instance Division), Hon. Justice Richard Muhumuza(Judge of First Instance Division), Hon. Justice Richard Wabwire Wejuli (Judge of First Instance Division) and Hon. Justice Dr. Leonard Gacuko (Judge of First Instance Division).
The Deputy Registrar of EACJ, HW Christine Mutimura-Wekesa and Deputy Registrar Commercial Court HW Juliet Harty Hatanga, were equally present.
